Implant recipients experience the best results when they participate in post-operative therapy. For children, therapy is scheduled as soon as their speech processor is programmed. Speech, language and auditory therapy are included in the program to help the child learn to use hearing for language reception and perception of speech.

The primary goal for adults is to improve listening and speech-reading skills. Therapy can be conducted at Beth Israel Medical Center, at a child's school, or at other hearing and speech centers.
